I always wanted travel to change me, to turn me into a different person. I was looking for new ways of seeing and being instead of just observing like a journalist or anthropologist. Part of this drive was positive - the pull of a beautiful wide world out there - but part was also negative, a yearning to escape from the places where I felt I didn’t fit, and from the worries and insecurities of my own mind.

It’s a quest that’s brought me to some fascinating locales, enigmatic people, and intriguing new experiences over the years. And while these have all been very interesting (OK, a couple of them maybe also a little regrettable), a select few have genuinely changed my life.

Some of these practices can have a rather esoteric reputation, but they’re actually all explainable, backed by science, and accessible to anyone willing to apply themselves. That’s part of their appeal for me, as I’ve always been very much a practical romantic. What is a bit out of this world though is the transformation that they can bring to your daily life, providing happiness and health in even the most challenging of circumstances, no drugs required.

I subsequently spent years immersing myself and qualifying as a teacher in each of the key practices, and now offer one-on-one coaching in the best of what I’ve learned::

  • Body: centred on the arts of T’ai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong.

  • Mind: focused on practical mindfulness techniques reinforced by the latest findings from psychology and neuroscience - what I call “meditation for the rest of us”.

  • Breath: harnessing the phenomenal power of breathing better (no, you’re actually not doing it right!).

Together, these practices deliver a remarkable overhaul for your physical and mental health and a rebalancing of your nervous system. To find out more or to book a session, please contact me directly or visit my ClassPass page 🙏
