Sharing What I Learned Along the Way

I always wanted travel to change me, to turn me into a different human. I was looking for new ways of seeing and being, not just to observe like a journalist or anthropologist. Part of this drive was positive - the pull of a beautiful wide world out there - but part was also a yearning to escape from places where I felt I didn’t fit, and from the worries and insecurities of my own mind.

Its a quest that has brought me to some fascinating places, enigmatic people, and intriguing new experiences over the years. And while these have all been very interesting (OK, a couple perhaps regrettable in hindsight…), a select few also genuinely changed my life.

The practices and perspectives in question can have a rather esoteric reputation, but they’re in fact all explainable, backed up by science, and accessible to anyone willing to apply themselves. That’s part of their appeal for me, as I’ve always been very much the practical romantic. What is a bit out of this world though is the transformation that they can bring to your life.

I spent years immersing myself and qualifying to teach in each of these key practices, and now offer one-on-one coaching in the best of what I’ve learned::

  • Body: centred on T’ai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong, combined with selected practices from other complementary Asian wellness and martial systems.

  • Mind: practical meditation techniques coupled with real-life wisdom from a range of traditions, reinforced by the latest findings in psychology and neuroscience.

  • Breath: harnessing the amazing power of breathing right (no, you’re not!) to manage your nervous system and boost your physical and mental health.
